New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) Neeru Dhanda, an Asian Championship gold medalist, exhibited remarkable poise to clinch the women’s trap gold at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (Shotgun) held on Monday at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Neeru topped the finals with an impressive 41 hits, fending off fierce competition from Kirti Gupta of Delhi, who earned the silver with 40 hits. Neeru's teammate from Madhya Pradesh, Pragati Dubey, secured the bronze medal with 32 hits.
In the qualification round, Pragati led with 117, followed by Neeru with 114 and Rajeshwari Kumari with 113. Addya Katyal qualified fourth with 112, while Preeti Rajak (111+1) and Kirti Gupta (111) rounded out the top six based on shoot-out scores.
During the finals, Addya Katyal from Delhi finished fourth with 27, followed by Preeti Rajak with 21 and Punjab’s Olympian Rajeshwari Kumari, who placed sixth with 17 hits.
In the junior men’s trap final, Aryavansh Tyagi excelled with a score of 42 to take home the gold medal. Keshav Chauhan from Punjab earned silver with 37, while Uttar Pradesh’s Zuhair Khan captured bronze with 30.
Zuhair Khan had previously dominated the qualification round with a score of 120, outpacing Aryan Singh’s 118, who finished fifth in the final with 21 hits. Aryavansh Tyagi and Arjun both scored 115, with Aryavansh advancing through a shoot-off. Keshav Chauhan (113) and Manitwa Singh Rawat (112) completed the finalists, with Manitwal Singh Rawat finishing fourth with 27 and Arjun from Haryana sixth with 14 hits in the final.
In team events, Madhya Pradesh showcased dominance in the women’s trap team event, winning gold with a total of 339 from Pragati Dubey, Neeru Dhanda, and Manisha Keer. The silver medal went to Delhi, which scored 333 through Addya Katyal, Kirti Gupta, and Bhavya Tripathi, while Punjab secured bronze with 319 (Rajeshwari Kumari, Pukhraj Kaur Chahal, Krishika Joshi).
