Nitish Kumar Reddy Celebrated with a Grand Reception in Visakhapatnam Following Australian Test Tour

New Delhi, Jan 9 (NationPress) India's seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was welcomed like a hero upon his arrival at the airport in his hometown Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, after proving to be one of the standout performers for the Indian team during their recent Test tour of Australia. Upon leaving the Visakhapatnam airport, footage showcased Nitish receiving a large yellow garland from enthusiastic fans, with yellow petals showered upon him as cameras captured the joyous moment.
Nitish, a resident of Gajwuaka in Visakhapatnam, then took a seat in the front of an open jeep, with his father Mutyalu seated behind him, while fans gathered nearby for a closer look at the all-rounder.
Throughout the five matches, Nitish accumulated a total of 298 runs at an impressive average of 37.25, making him India's second-highest run-scorer in the series. His remarkable innings of 114—which marked his maiden Test century—at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground was a highlight of the tour, especially since his father Mutyalu Reddy, mother Manasa, sister Tejaswi, and uncle Surendra were present to witness the achievement.
In terms of bowling, Nitish claimed five wickets over 44 overs, with his best bowling figures being 2-32. His commendable performances and composed demeanor throughout his first Test tour of Australia have garnered significant acclaim from both former Indian and Australian cricketers, who believe he is destined to be a crucial player for the national team across all formats.
Nitish, who made his T20I debut in the series against Bangladesh last year and shone with a spectacular 74 in New Delhi, is expected to participate in India's upcoming five-match 20-over series against England, commencing on January 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Should that not materialize, he may represent Andhra in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B matches against Puducherry on January 23 and Rajasthan on January 30. Prior to his breakthrough tour of Australia, Nitish had participated in a Ranji Trophy match for Andhra against Gujarat in October 2024.
