New Delhi, Aug 10 (NationPress) North Delhi Strikers showcased an impressive performance with both bat and ball, securing a victory over Purani Dilli 6 by 27 runs in the 16th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
In pursuit of 180 runs, Purani Dilli 6 faced early setbacks, losing three wickets for just 13 runs in the first few overs. Nevertheless, a spirited partnership between Vansh Bedi and Pranav Pant revived their innings. Bedi’s explosive 33 off 17 balls, including three sixes, alongside Pant’s steady 40 runs, offered a glimmer of hope for a comeback.
Despite their efforts, Purani Dilli 6 crumbled during the final overs, eventually getting bowled out for 152 runs in 20 overs, significantly short of the target. The bowlers of North Delhi Strikers, spearheaded by Deepanshu Gulia with three wickets, alongside Harshit Rana and others, maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings.
Earlier, after opting to bat first, the North Delhi Strikers started aggressively, thanks to a rapid opening partnership between Sarthak Ranjan and Arnav Bugga. The duo amassed 58 runs without losing a wicket within the powerplay, with Ranjan leading the charge with 38 runs off 21 balls, while Bugga provided solid backing with 18 runs from 15 balls.
The partnership continued to flourish until the 10th over when Lalit Yadav claimed Ranjan’s wicket (51). Shortly after, Arnav Bugga, having built momentum with a fluent 39 off 26 balls, was dismissed by Udhav Mohan. Lalit Yadav then struck again by picking up another crucial wicket of Yajas Sharma. The Strikers lost a few more wickets rapidly in the middle overs due to the disciplined bowling of Udhav Mohan, Lalit Yadav, and Rajneesh Dadar, who ensured that the innings didn’t completely slip away from the fielding side, ultimately restricting the Strikers to 179/8.
Brief scores: North Delhi Strikers 179/8 in 20 overs (Sarthak Ranjan 51, Arnav Bugga 39, Rajneesh Dadar 3-39) beat Purani Dilli 6 152/10 in 20 overs (Pranav Pant 40, Vansh Bedi 33, Deepanshu Gulia 3-17).
