Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, Mar 1 (NationPress) In a remarkable achievement, Nurjahan Noorali Jamani, an athlete supported by Adani Sportsline Garv Hai, has clinched the title in the Women’s Class 7 category at the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Para Senior Table Tennis National Championship 2025–26. This victory places her as the No. 1 athlete in India for this category.
After undergoing an international medical reclassification, Nurjahan advanced from Class 6, where she held the World No. 12 ranking, to compete in Class 7, which reset her global ranking to World No. 28. She navigated through the knockout rounds with determination, ultimately defeating Dhwani Shah with a score of 3-1 in the finals.
Currently, ranked No. 8 in Asia, Nurjahan is targeting a Top 6 finish to secure her place in the upcoming Asian Para Games later this year. She plans to participate in several international competitions in Italy, Spain, and other venues to improve her ranking.
“This victory was essential to regain my momentum after the reclassification,” Nurjahan stated. “It boosts my confidence at this critical juncture. My primary goal now is to break into the Top 6 in Asia and qualify.”
A polio survivor since the age of five, the 39-year-old made her return to competitive table tennis in 2022 following a lengthy hiatus and has progressively ascended the ranks. In addition to her athletic pursuits, she serves as a Junior Officer at Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) in Ahmedabad, effectively balancing her professional duties with rigorous training.
“Managing work schedules along with my training is challenging, but the support from Garv Hai has been instrumental in enabling me to compete on an international level,” she remarked.
Adani Sportsline, the sports division of the Adani Group, is committed to fostering sporting excellence through grassroots initiatives and high-performance athlete support.
