Cuttack, Sep 12 (NationPress) The first edition of the Odisha Pro T20 League (OPTL) is set to take place from September 17 to September 26, 2025, at the renowned Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. This announcement was made today by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA). The league will conclude with an exciting grand finale on September 26.
Competing for the first title are six franchises: Cuttack Panthers, Sambalpur Warriors, Puri Titans, Bhubaneshwar Tigers, Keonjhar Miners, and Rourkela Steelers. Earlier this week, the coaches and captains of each team were revealed through a draw conducted by the OCA.
The player draft for this inaugural season took place today, attended by prominent OCA officials, including President Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Secretary Mr. Sanjay Behera, Joint Secretary Mr. Prabhat Bhol, and Treasurer Mr. Bikash Pradhan. Franchise owners and OCA members were also present, with Smt. Subhashree Behera, owner of the Cuttack Panthers, among the attendees. Shri Asirbad Behera, Secretary of the Football Association of Odisha and Chairman of the Odisha Athletic Association, was the Chief Guest of the event.
During the draft, each franchise selected 16 players, with the possibility of adding two more before the tournament's commencement. The player fee categories were also established: Marquee – ₹1,25,000; Category A – ₹1,00,000; Category B – ₹75,000; Category C – ₹50,000; and Category D – ₹40,000.
OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera expressed, “The Odisha Pro T20 League signifies a pivotal moment in the evolution of cricket within our state. With elite talent and professional management, we believe this league will emerge as a significant entity in Indian domestic cricket. For effective management, the OCA has partnered with Arivaa Sports as its exclusive management partner, known for successfully organizing similar leagues in Bengal, Vidarbha, and Saurashtra.
