Kolkata, April 26 (NationPress) The Punjab Kings (PBKS) won the toss and opted to bat first against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, taking place at Eden Gardens.
For PBKS, Azmatullah Omarzai and Glenn Maxwell are brought in for Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett, while KKR sees Rovman Powell and Chetan Sakariya replace Moeen Ali and Ramandeep Singh.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer stated, "We are batting first. Since we are playing on the same wicket they played on, we can see a few cracks and will get an idea of how it's playing. It's always fantastic to play in front of this crowd. Another day to come here and embrace it. We have been getting brilliant starts. We are discussing a few situations, need to perform to our best ability, and believe in ourselves. I want the bowlers to take wickets; it changes the momentum."
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane mentioned, "It's all about playing good cricket; we need to chase down whatever the target is. Our bowling has been performing well. They have improved significantly. The boys have been disappointing with the bat, but we need to be brave in this format. Our batting unit needs to step up in this game. We have been playing good cricket in patches. It’s about living in the moment and staying positive."
