New Delhi, June 6 (NationPress) Renowned leg-spinner Piyush Chawla, a key player in India's triumphs at the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup, has officially declared his retirement from all formats of cricket.
The 36-year-old made this announcement via his Instagram account.
“After more than twenty years on the field, the time has come to say goodbye to this beautiful game. From representing India at the highest level to being part of the victorious 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup teams, every moment in this remarkable journey has been a blessing. These memories will forever remain in my heart.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the IPL franchises that believed in me - Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians. The Indian Premier League has been a significant chapter in my career, and I have treasured each moment spent in it,” Chawla expressed.
Throughout his career from 2006 to 2012, Chawla played 3 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 7 T20Is for India, accumulating a total of 43 wickets. He also took 192 wickets in 192 IPL matches, with his final stint being with the Mumbai Indians from 2022 to 2024.
