Visakhapatnam, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Bengal Warriorz faced their initial setback in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12, falling short with a score of 45-36 against the Puneri Paltan on Wednesday. Although captain Devank Dalal showcased a remarkable performance, netting 17 raid points and achieving a Super 10, the team struggled to bounce back from critical errors that the seasoned Puneri Paltan capitalized on.
In a post-match reflection, head coach Naveen Kumar acknowledged that minor mistakes turned out to be pivotal. He stated, “The first half was tightly contested, with us only a few points behind. However, our repeated minor errors accumulated, creating pressure that ultimately led to our defeat.”
Naveen emphasized that his young players are still adapting to high-pressure scenarios but are expected to grow stronger as the season unfolds.
“With a young roster in both offense and defense, it can be challenging for them to manage pressure in such matches. However, as the season progresses, they will learn to handle these situations better. The players are improving steadily, and under Devank's leadership, they are motivated and ready to face all challenges,” he added.
Despite the loss, Devank Dalal once again stood out with his tenacity on the field. However, he recognized a crucial moment just before half-time that altered their momentum.
“I was performing well and scoring points, but I made an error and got caught right before half-time, which I believe impacted our raiding strategy,” he explained.
Devank also acknowledged the experience of the Puneri Paltan as a contributing factor to the outcome. “Puneri Paltan has a well-established team with players who have been working together for a long time, whereas we are a fresh and youthful squad. This difference certainly played a role in today’s result. We will learn from our mistakes and strive to improve as a team during training.”
