Bengaluru, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2025 has reached its thrilling conclusion in Bengaluru, with India Orange being declared the champions at Altiore Sports – The Oval. This remarkable initiative was organized by the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled and the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI).
The final match experienced a delay due to a wet outfield, leading to a reduction to just 10 overs per side. After winning the toss, India Red captain Deepika T. C. chose to field first. India Orange showcased their prowess by scoring an impressive 94/1 in their allotted overs, highlighted by a spectacular performance from Simu Das (B1), who smashed 54 runs off 31 balls.
In their chase, India Red faced challenges in generating runs and lost wickets frequently, ultimately failing to reach the target. The disciplined bowling and sharp fielding of India Orange secured their victory in a nail-biting final. Simu Das was rightfully named the player of the match, while Simu Das (B1), Anekha Thakur (B2), and Deepika T.C. (B3) received the player of the series awards.
India Orange celebrated their triumph by lifting the Champions Trophy for the Blind 2025 and receiving a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000.
The tournament also serves as a stepping stone for players selected to participate in the upcoming National Coaching Camp.
The National Coaching Camp and tournament aim to achieve two primary objectives. Firstly, they focus on boosting the self-confidence and sportsmanship of visually impaired cricketers by immersing them in essential aspects of the sport, including discipline, teamwork, fitness, strategic planning, and competitive spirit.
Secondly, the initiative strives to discover and nurture a talented group of players who will represent India at the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket for the Blind scheduled for November 2025. This prestigious tournament will feature seven countries: Australia, England, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the USA, and the host nation India. Notably, matches for Pakistan will take place at a neutral venue in Kathmandu, Nepal.
During his address, Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Chairman of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and founder managing trustee of the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries and supporters nationwide.
