Bengaluru, Sep 3 (NationPress) India Red and India Orange have charged into the final of the NTT DATA Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2025 on Day 3. This event, organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) in partnership with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, serves as a pathway to select the top 16 women cricketers who will represent India in the inaugural Women’s T20 Blind World Cup this November in New Delhi, Kathmandu, and Bengaluru.
The day commenced with India Red overcoming India Yellow while chasing a target of 134 runs. Captain Deepika T.C. scored a remarkable 62 off 55 balls, while Anekha Thakur contributed 47 off 40, leading the chase, with Deepika being named Player of the Match.
In the sixth match of the tournament, Simu Das dominated by scoring 114 off 72 balls, alongside captain Ganga Kadam, who added 55 off 47. This propelled India Orange to a total of 206/3. Unfortunately, rain interrupted India Blue’s response at 23/1, resulting in the match being declared abandoned.
Heading into the finals, India Orange boasts a perfect record with victories in all three games, establishing themselves as a formidable contender, while India Red suffered one loss against their final rivals in the buildup.
The tournament is more than just a sporting event; it also serves as a platform for empowerment. In addition to competitive cricket, participants receive training in life skills, digital literacy, and financial literacy, complemented by stipends and educational support. These initiatives aim to prepare and empower the future generation of women blind cricketers, fostering their development both on and off the field.
The highly anticipated finale—India Red vs India Orange—will take place on Thursday. Beyond cricket, this NTT DATA-supported initiative equips players with essential life skills and knowledge, ensuring holistic empowerment.
