Premier League: Arsenal Triumphs Over Manchester United to Narrow Liverpool's Lead

London, Dec 5 (NationPress) A remarkable performance saw Arsenal secure their first-ever fourth consecutive win against Manchester United, triumphing 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba were pivotal in this victory.

Once again, set pieces proved crucial, with Jurrien Timber converting a delivery from Declan Rice just eight minutes into the second half, marking his inaugural goal for the club.

Arsenal extended their advantage in a similar manner when Bukayo Saka sent a back-post cross that Thomas Partey headed back, allowing William Saliba to finish the move.

Kai Havertz nearly increased the lead further but was denied by Onana, while substitute Mikel Merino came close to scoring from another corner shortly after.

"I am very pleased, it was a memorable evening in this magnificent stadium. We truly deserved the win. Despite some injuries, the energy in the stadium was incredible," stated Mikel Arteta, the Gunners' manager.

Although they celebrated victory, Arsenal fell to third place on goal difference following Chelsea's impressive 5-1 victory over Southampton, reducing the gap to leaders Liverpool to seven points, while United sit at 11th.

In a noteworthy development, United manager Ruben Amorim faced his first league defeat since December 2023 (Sporting CP 2-3 Vitoria Guimaraes), ending a remarkable 34-match unbeaten streak in league play (W31 D3).
