Premier League: Iwobi Nets Two as Fulham Defeats Brighton to Climb to Sixth Place

London, Dec 6 (NationPress) With two goals from Alex Iwobi and an own goal by Matt O’Riley, Fulham achieved a remarkable 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Craven Cottage last evening.

Iwobi took advantage of a critical error by Seagulls goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to score the first goal. However, the visitors equalized early in the second half thanks to a stunning strike from Carlos Baleba.

Brighton dominated possession following that, but Fulham regained control and took the lead when the unfortunate O’Riley accidentally redirected Andreas Pereira’s corner into his own net.

Iwobi sealed the match with a beautifully curled shot in the final moments, concluding an engaging match.

This victory propels Fulham into sixth place, just one point and one position behind Brighton in a tightly packed upper half of the Premier League.

"This was a crucial three points for us in a challenging match. We started off optimally with the early goal, but Brighton made it really tough for us in the first half. They employed a three-man defense, complicating our connection with the wide players," stated Fulham manager Marco Silva.

"We also created opportunities. In the second half, we performed much better. We conceded during a moment when we should have been better prepared for the long ball. It was an excellent shot from the edge of the box. A tough game, but a vital three points for us," he concluded.
