New Delhi, June 9 (NationPress) As the Indian team prepares to step onto the pitch for a vital five-match Test series against England, seasoned batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has emphasized the significance of discipline, patience, and mutual support among the players. He stressed that each individual must contribute to the team's success while acknowledging the challenges ahead.

This series marks India’s initial challenge in the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. The first Test is set to commence at Headingley on June 20, followed by the second Test at Edgbaston on July 2.

“The Indian squad must swiftly adapt to the conditions in England. With my experience in English conditions and team dynamics, I firmly believe that discipline, patience, and support for one another are essential,” Pujara stated in a release from the Sony Sports Network.

The historic Lord's will host the third Test starting July 10, with the fourth match at Old Trafford beginning July 23, and the final Test at The Oval from July 31. WV Raman, a former India batsman who previously coached the women’s team, believes the new Indian batting lineup faces a significant challenge following the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“India’s new batting unit will be tested in England, where conditions typically favor swing and seam bowlers. They must remain patient, keep their composure, and avoid overthinking about the circumstances. Former India batter Hemang Badani asserts that senior player K.L. Rahul will play a crucial role in unifying the batting order. Rahul recently excelled under Badani’s coaching at the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, scoring 116 and 51 in the ongoing second match for India ‘A’ against the England Lions.

“When challenges arise, true resilience shines through. This is a genuine opportunity for the young players to step up. The conditions in the UK will be demanding, but that’s where real character is revealed,” he noted.

“As the most experienced batter, K.L. Rahul must guide the younger players and support skipper Shubman Gill, while Jasprit Bumrah’s leadership with the ball will be vital.”
