He emphasized the strong confidence within the squad and a collective mindset that prioritizes internal benchmarks over outside pressures.

Once again, PBKS showcased their expertise in chasing totals over 200 in the IPL, achieving this milestone for the ninth occasion. Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer effectively dismantled the bowling attack of Chennai Super Kings. Arya ignited the innings with an explosive performance, scoring 33 runs off just 9 deliveries, allowing PBKS to reach their fifty in rapid fashion. Iyer provided stability to the chase, transitioning from 4 runs off 5 balls to a quick-fire fifty in just 26 deliveries.

“Naturally, there are concerns before stepping onto the field. However, our start today was remarkable. Priyansh and Prabh are doing a fantastic job at the beginning, setting a strong foundation for us. Their consistent batting style over the years helps maintain our rhythm. Priyansh Arya kickstarted the chase with a stunning performance, laying the groundwork for Punjab Kings' pursuit of 210 runs against Chennai Super Kings. Coming in as a substitute, Arya made his intentions clear by aggressively targeting Khaleel Ahmed from the outset. A crisp drive for four, quickly followed by a powerful six over midwicket, marked his impactful entry. Despite Khaleel managing to move the ball against Prabhsimran Singh, he still conceded 14 runs in his opening over.

The second over saw no respite as Arya continued his assault on Matt Henry, hitting a sequence of 4, 6, and 4 to accumulate 25 runs off just six balls. By the time PBKS reached their fifty in a phenomenal 3.2 overs, Arya had already amassed 27 runs off 8 balls, consistently finding the boundary. This aggressive T20 approach showcased his intent to dominate early in the innings. Although his 39 runs from 11 balls might not have single-handedly clinched the match, it effectively exemplified the role of a proactive opener, aiming to inflict maximum damage early on and set a strong platform.

“Absolutely. Scoring 39 runs off 11 balls is the kind of start needed when chasing 208. I believe the pitch played well. Our aggressive start of 25 runs in 3 overs set the tone. We need to focus on our over rates, especially with 5 fielders coming in during the last two overs,” he added.
