New Delhi, July 21 (NationPress) The Kochi Blue Spikers have secured the services of seasoned athlete Vinit Kumar for a substantial fee of Rs 22.5 Lakhs, marking him as one of the top three acquisitions during the Prime Volleyball League Season 4 auction.
Vinit, who began his volleyball journey in 2008 and draws inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo’s work ethic, is eager to don the Kochi Blue Spikers jersey. He understands the pivotal role he must assume and is committed to spearheading the team.
“There’s undoubtedly a feeling of responsibility,” Vinit expressed. “The trust the team has placed in me is immense, and I’m ready to meet the challenge head-on. I will dedicate myself fully to help us clinch the trophy.”
“Pressure is an inherent part of the game, and I’ve learned to welcome it,” Vinit noted. “As the captain of the Indian team, expectations are high, but I’ve always believed in owning my role. That drive is what excites me about bringing my passion to the Kochi Blue Spikers.”
Having won the Prime Volleyball title in Season 1 with the Kolkata Thunderbolts, Vinit emphasized the significance of having a champion player on the team. “It’s more than just experience — it’s about instilling belief. The squad gains confidence knowing someone who has achieved success is among them. This can provide invaluable lessons for the younger players.”
The Indian captain, originally from Muzaffarnagar and currently residing in Dehradun, praised the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) for its crucial role in fostering grassroots talent.
“PVL has been exceptional in identifying and nurturing talent from the grassroots level,” Vinit remarked. “The exposure and platform provided to players here are remarkable. Competing with international athletes allows our youth to learn, adapt, and gear up for greater challenges. Each year, we witness new talents emerge, which is fantastic for the Indian volleyball landscape.”
With a profound passion for the sport, Vinit also shared his vision of establishing a grassroots academy near his hometown in Uttar Pradesh.
“I aspire to give back to the sport that has enriched my life,” he stated. “Currently, there’s no volleyball academy in my region, so I plan to create one. This initiative will provide young children the chance to learn the game and aspire for greatness.”
