  • Rajasthan Royals' captain emphasizes the need to improve on dropped catches.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal played a pivotal role for RR with a half-century.

Jaipur, April 13 (NationPress) Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson remarked that Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinched victory during the powerplay after posting 65/0 in the initial six overs while pursuing 174 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

RCB ultimately triumphed by nine wickets, with openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli showcasing outstanding performances to complete the chase in 17.3 overs.

Salt scored a remarkable 65 runs off 33 balls, featuring six sixes and five fours, while Kohli remained not out at 62 runs from 45 balls, including two sixes and four fours. Devdutt Padikkal contributed 40 not out from 28 balls, aided by five fours and one six.

"Absolutely (when asked if they considered 170 a competitive score). After losing the toss on such a slow wicket, batting first under the sun for the first 10 overs is challenging during day games. We anticipated their aggressive approach, and they secured the victory during the powerplay," Samson stated during the post-match presentation.

The wicketkeeper-batter further commented on the dropped catches throughout the match by both sides and acknowledged the need for improvement.

"Catches win matches. They dropped our catches, and we dropped theirs (smiles). It's clear we need to enhance this aspect. Credit goes to RCB," Samson noted.

"The ball came onto the bat better in the second innings. They performed exceptionally well. We have been having crucial discussions about enhancing our performance and coming back stronger. We must leave this behind and approach the next game with a positive mindset," he said.

After being invited to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s half-century, along with Dhruv Jurel’s explosive 35 runs off 23 balls, propelled Rajasthan Royals to 173/4 in their 20 overs.
