New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's impressive eight-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, director of cricket Mo Bobat expressed that the players are extremely focused and determined to clinch the IPL 2025 title.
With this commanding win, the Rajat Patidar-led RCB has reached the IPL final for the first time in nine years, marking a significant achievement since their last top-two finish during the IPL 2016 season.
"We take pride in our performance throughout the season. The resilience, composure, and aggressive mindset shown by the team reflect the strong character we’ve developed. We’ve accomplished several key milestones, but this one is undoubtedly the most crucial.
"Our squad is full of match-winners, and it’s inspiring to see everyone contributing. After a challenging league phase, the playoffs are a time to trust in and enjoy the game. The final promises to be a memorable event for our supporters, and our players are laser-focused and determined to finish the task at hand,” stated Bobat in a franchise release on Friday.
RCB’s journey in IPL 2025 has seen each player rise to the occasion, ensuring team victories regardless of the situation. Virat Kohli has amassed over 600 runs this season, achieving this milestone for the fifth time in IPL history. He has also hit eight half-centuries, the highest by any player this season.
In addition to Kohli, nine other batsmen have scored half-centuries, including Patidar, Phil Salt, Tim David, Jitesh Sharma, and Romario Shepherd. However, Devdutt Padikkal and Jacob Bethell will not participate further due to injuries and international commitments, respectively. On the bowling front, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has spearheaded the attack with 21 wickets, while Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have each taken 15 wickets, with leg-spinner Suyash Sharma claiming eight scalps.
Throughout this season, nine different RCB players have received the Player of the Match awards, and the team has won all its away games—a historic achievement no other team has replicated in IPL history. RCB is now set to compete in the title match against the winner of Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3.
