Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) The left-arm spin bowling all-rounder of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Radha Yadav, praised the franchise's management for arranging a brief getaway to Goa that enabled the team to mentally rejuvenate before the 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) final, which is set to occur in Vadodara on Thursday.
"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the RCB management for providing us with a fantastic break of two to three days. Given the busy cricket schedule, it’s essential to step back sometimes. Taking a breather is beneficial for everyone involved.
“The RCB management did an excellent job organizing this time off, and the entire team is feeling revitalized. Today marks our practice session, and we are all eagerly looking forward to the finals," Radha mentioned during a virtual interaction with IANS on Tuesday.
She further emphasized her strong camaraderie with the international players in the RCB squad. “As for the overseas players, I believe we’ve blended seamlessly. We often share coffee together, and there's plenty of fun both on and off the pitch whenever we find the opportunity,” Radha shared.
This marks Radha's first season with RCB after three seasons with Delhi Capitals, where she has scored 102 runs and taken two wickets. She noted that RCB's encouraging environment and supportive coaching staff have made her transition into the team effortless.
“From the moment I joined, the team atmosphere has been incredibly welcoming, making it easy for me to integrate. Our staff keeps us informed about areas for improvement, contributing to an excellent atmosphere,” she explained.
“This environment is beneficial for my personal growth. The intensity and mindset here are commendable; it's crucial to maintain focus on your game. Such experiences are invaluable for international fixtures. As a team, we are evolving tactically. Bowling conditions can be challenging, but we learn how to adapt, which greatly aids our international performances.”
“Our staff comprises seasoned players who share extensive insights with us. They encourage us to relax and simply play. The WPL significantly boosts our performance in international matches,” she elaborated.
One of the notable discussions surrounding the tournament was Radha’s elevation in batting order to number five, which proved successful as she struck 66 runs against the Gujarat Giants. This was expected given Radha's proficiency in domestic cricket.
“I align my play with the team’s strategy. Our head coach Malo informed me post-auction that I would bat higher up the order if needed. I prepare accordingly, and they have closely observed my gameplay, understanding my capabilities in various situations. Their instructions were straightforward - I would take on the finishing role if circumstances permitted.
“Everything concerning my bowling, batting, and fielding positions was clearly defined. This clarity enhances performance visibility. The credit goes to our coaching staff,” she added.
Following the conclusion of the WPL 2026 final, Radha will lead India A in the upcoming Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars in Bangkok from February 13-22. She mentioned that her leadership would be characterized by transparency and open communication, referencing her previous captaincy role with India A during last year's multi-format tour in Australia.
“When I captained the India A side last year, our coaching staff maintained clear communication with Apurva (Desai) and Nooshin (Al Khadeer). I perform best in transparent environments. I ensure that my team understands their roles clearly and have the necessary information to succeed.
“I prioritize transparency in my approach and aim to be supportive. As a captain, I must comprehend my players’ strengths and the best situations to deploy them, whether as bowlers or batters,” she concluded.
