Manchester, July 21 (NationPress) India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been sidelined for the remaining two Tests against England due to a left knee injury, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday.

Nitish will be returning home, and the team extends its wishes for his swift recovery.

Reddy, who missed the opening Test but participated in the second and third, had a subdued performance in Birmingham; however, he made significant contributions at Lord's, both with bat and ball. His absence might pave the way for Shardul Thakur to rejoin the squad after playing the first Test.

Compounding India's challenges, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has also been ruled out of the fourth Test against England in Manchester. "He suffered an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets during a training session in Beckenham. The BCCI medical team is currently monitoring his recovery," stated the BCCI in an official release.

To replace Arshdeep, the men’s selection committee has brought in Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj to the squad, who has now joined the team in Manchester.

India’s preparations for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford, commencing July 23, have faced another hurdle, with fast bowler Akash Deep dealing with an injury. Concerns are also mounting regarding Jasprit Bumrah’s workload, as the pace spearhead is expected to participate in only one of the final two Tests. Having played in the first and third matches, Bumrah is anticipated to return for the Manchester Test after an eight-day rest.

India may also contemplate the inclusion of Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeeper if Rishabh Pant is limited to a batting position due to a finger injury.

England currently leads the series 2-1 after clinching victory at Lord's by 22 runs.

India’s updated squad for the fourth Test includes: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj.
