New Delhi, April 4 (NationPress) In a remarkable display of batting, Sameer Rizvi transformed the chase once again, scoring an impressive 90 runs off 51 balls. His efforts propelled Delhi Capitals to a convincing six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, marking their second consecutive win of IPL 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Batting on a slow pitch that improved as the game progressed, Suryakumar Yadav, acting as captain, led MI with a top score of 51, helping the team set a target of 162/2. MI struggled to establish a rhythm throughout their innings, with Yadav and Rohit Sharma managing a 53-run partnership.

However, DC disrupted their momentum by taking wickets at crucial intervals, limiting MI to just 38 runs in the final four overs. Mukesh Kumar excelled as the lead bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 26 runs. Chasing 163, DC found themselves at 73/3 before Rizvi took charge, hitting seven fours and as many sixes at a phenomenal strike rate of 176.47.

He formed vital partnerships of 66 and 78 with Pathum Nissanka (44) and David Miller (21 not out), respectively, completing the chase with 11 balls to spare. Rizvi’s seven sixes tie for the most hit by a DC player against MI in IPL history and represent the third-highest score by a DC batter versus the five-time champions.

As an Impact Player, Rizvi’s score ranks among the highest in a single IPL innings, surpassed only by Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan.
