Gwalior, August 4 (NationPress) Sachin Goyal, a professional arm-wrestler representing the Pro Panja League team MP Hathodas, is affectionately referred to as the 'Bicep King' by his extensive fanbase of over two million on social media. He is eager to showcase his strength in front of his home crowd in Gwalior as the second edition of the tournament is set to commence on Tuesday.

The PPL Season 2 has selected the picturesque city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, as the venue for this eagerly awaited season. Following the success of the inaugural season, this choice aligns with the league's mission to promote and broaden the appeal of sports across India, making the tournament accessible in renowned Indian locations while significantly enhancing event partnerships and athlete participation. The decision to host Season 2 in Gwalior was likely influenced by the venue's successful hosting of the Pro Panja Ranking Tournament in 2022.

In a candid discussion with IANS, Goyal expressed excitement over the opportunity to display his skills before his hometown audience and how the PPL has transformed the sport.

“It feels incredibly thrilling. This isn’t the first tournament we’ve held here in Gwalior. Last time, I reached the finals and the fans rallied in large numbers, chanting ‘Bicep King’, my nickname.

“I’ve been involved in arm wrestling since I was nine, but it wasn’t until the Pro Panja League that it gained real popularity. It stands as the largest and finest league in the world for this sport,” Goyal shared with IANS.

Six teams, including Mumbai Muscle, Jaipur Veers, Kiraak Hyderabad, Sher-e-Ludhiana, Rohtak Rowdies, and MP Hathodas, will compete for the prestigious title as the league continues to expand in scale, strength, and inclusivity.

“We have an exceptionally strong team, and I anticipate a fantastic tournament,” he added.

The tournament will feature a specific number of pins (winning rounds) that must be achieved by the match winner in the Pro Panja League, based on a series of contests between two competitors. Matches are organized within predefined weight categories for both male and female athletes, with additional categories for individuals with physical disabilities. Throughout the season, various teams will compete against each other in a league format, culminating in a final playoff.
