Gwalior (M.P.), Aug 4 (NationPress) The Pro Panja League (PPL) has officially unveiled its much-anticipated Season 2 in the historic city of Gwalior during a launch event at the Jiwaji Club on Monday. The event was attended by notable figures including Organising Committee Chairman Prabal Pratap Singh Tomar, Trinadh Reddy, CEO of Kiraak Hyderabad, Abhishek Malik, Owner of Rohtak Rowdies, along with co-founders Parvinn Dabass and Preeti Jhangiani, who introduced the league's sixth franchise - MP Hathodas, enhancing the league’s reach in the region.

Six teams, namely Mumbai Muscle, Jaipur Veers, Kiraak Hyderabad, Sher-e-Ludhiana, Rohtak Rowdies, and MP Hathodas, are set to compete for the prestigious title as the league continues to expand in scale, strength, and inclusivity.

Additionally, two exciting showcase bouts in the 70 kg weight category were announced, featuring Stewe from Kiraak Hyderabad facing Sivajith from Sher-e-Ludhiana, and Akash from MP Hathodas going up against Ashish from Mumbai Muscle.

The Pro Panja League (PPL) Season 2 has selected the picturesque Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, as its host city for this eagerly awaited season. Building on the success of the inaugural season, this choice aligns with the league’s vision to enhance sports engagement across India and make the tournament accessible in famous Indian locations, significantly boosting event partnerships and participation in sporting talent. The decision to host Season 2 in Gwalior was likely motivated by the venue’s experience in hosting the Pro Panja Ranking Tournament back in 2022.

Speaking about the grand inauguration and the city’s pivotal role in making Pro Panja a key event on the sports calendar, actor/director and Pro Panja League co-founder Parvinn Dabass stated, “The city’s fervent supporters and the warm welcome we received during the 2022 mega matches were crucial factors for us to bring our tournament to the historic city of Gwalior.”

“Such genuine passion and hospitality, coupled with the electrifying energy of the crowds, made Gwalior the ideal location for our tournament. We extend our gratitude to Hon Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Virender Singh Khatik ji, and the Stadium Authorities for facilitating a sporting event like the Pro Panja League Season 2, which elevates awareness of arm wrestling while creating an atmosphere conducive to both players and spectators. This venue is perfect for showcasing arm wrestling at its finest, and we believe our bond with the city will deepen and flourish,” he added.

The tournament’s structure includes a specific number of pins (round victories) that must be achieved by the winner of each match, based on a series of bouts between two contenders. Matches are organized within established weight categories for both male and female participants, with additional categories available for individuals with physical disabilities. Throughout the season, several teams will compete against each other in a league format, culminating in a final playoff.

Co-founder Preeti Jhangiani emphasized the importance of engaging both national and international audiences and bringing the excitement of the tournament to the beautiful city of Gwalior through Pro Panja League, stating, “Our arm wrestling sport has profound cultural connections that allow us to host events in thrilling venues like Gwalior, fostering a strong bond with various Indian tiers. Our league is committed to promoting and enhancing arm wrestling events across the national and international landscape, creating a platform where spectators can witness Indian arm wrestling at a professional level.”

The Pro Panja League, recognized as India’s premier professional arm wrestling league, is set to captivate audiences with its exhilarating atmosphere and competitive spirit in the upcoming Season 2. This season aims to elevate the league's visibility and impact through streaming collaborations with renowned platforms such as Sony Sports 3, DD Sports, FanCode, and SportVot (for viewers outside India).
