Wellington, Dec 12 (NationPress) Former New Zealand captain Amy Satterthwaite, alongside Anna Peterson and Sarah Tsukigawa, has been designated as the female pathway lead for Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago, respectively. This strategic move aims to enhance regional development frameworks.
The newly appointed pathway managers will work under the supervision of Sara McGlashan, a former New Zealand women’s wicketkeeper-batter, who has taken the lead for the national program.
“By fostering connections with clubs and schools and promoting high-caliber training environments, they are instrumental in establishing robust pathways for young cricketers. Creating settings where players feel supported, motivated, and capable of realizing their potential is crucial for their growth,” stated Sara in a recent NZC announcement.
Amy, the former captain, brings extensive experience to her role, having played 145 ODIs and 111 T20Is before her retirement from international cricket in 2022. Following her retirement, she joined the WBBL team, Adelaide Strikers, as an assistant coach.
Anna has also made her mark, participating in 65 international white-ball matches for New Zealand between 2012 and 2020. She recently returned to cricket after spearheading the Women and Girls Strategy at the Auckland Rugby Union as the Game Development Officer.
Sarah, who played 61 matches for New Zealand from 2006 to 2011, has prior experience as a selector and assistant coach for her former domestic team, the Otago Sparks.
Additionally, Luke Pomfret has joined the Northern Districts pathway team, bringing with him valuable experience from his time with English counties, Middlesex and Northamptonshire. He will collaborate with Jamie Watkins, who continues to lead the Central Districts program.
