Ahmedabad, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Gujarat Panthers faced a stalemate against the Gurgaon Grand Slammers; the Chennai Smashers triumphed over the Hyderabad Strikers, while the GS Delhi Aces fell to the SG Pipers. In the day’s final match, the Yash Mumbai Eagles outperformed the Rajasthan Rangers on the fourth day of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

In the Women’s Singles, Sahaja Yamalapalli displayed remarkable skill, narrowly overcoming Nuria Brancaccio from Italy 13–12, in a match characterized by extended rallies and courageous shot-making. Following this, she partnered with Sriram Balaji in the Mixed Doubles, where their seamless returning and adept net tactics secured them a 14–11 victory over Brancaccio and Anirudh Chandrasekar, giving the Gurgaon Grand Slammers an early advantage.

In response, the Gujarat Panthers rallied in the Men’s Singles as Alexandre Müller achieved a 14–11 win against Dan Evans. Müller then teamed with Chandrasekar in Men’s Doubles, edging past Balaji and Evans 13–12 in a fiercely contested match. With both teams at 50 points, the game concluded in a draw.

In the second match, the Chennai Smashers faced off against the Hyderabad Strikers. Carole Monnet shone in Women’s Singles, defeating Irina Bara 15–10. In Mixed Doubles, Bara and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli narrowly triumphed over Monnet and Vishnu Vardhan 13–12, shifting the momentum toward the Chennai Smashers.

Dalibor Svrcina then electrified the court, dominating Men’s Singles with a 15–10 win against Pedro Martínez. He subsequently teamed with Bollipalli to deliver a commanding 17–8 victory in Men’s Doubles against Vardhan and Martínez, securing a 55–45 overall victory for the Chennai Smashers.

In the third match, the GS Delhi Aces faced the SG Pipers. The tie commenced with Sofia Costoulas competing against Shrivalli Bhamidipaty in Women’s Singles, with Costoulas calmly securing a 14–11 victory. In Mixed Doubles, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Costoulas faced off against Rohan Bopanna and Bhamidipaty, with the SG Pipers claiming a 14–11 win through precise returning and disciplined net play.

The Men’s Singles featured Billy Harris against Ramkumar Ramanathan, with Harris showcasing top-tier tennis under pressure to narrowly win 13–12. The Men’s Doubles had Nedunchezhiyan and Harris against Ramanathan and Bopanna, where the Pipers duo delivered an impressive performance, winning 14–11 and sealing a narrow 51–49 overall victory for the SG Pipers.

In the final match, the Yash Mumbai Eagles clashed with the Rajasthan Rangers. In Women’s Singles, Riya Bhatia faced Ekaterina Kazionova. Riya fought valiantly, but Kazionova prevailed 13–12 in the closing moments. Kazionova later partnered with Dhakshineswar Suresh in Mixed Doubles against Bhatia and Niki Poonacha, with the Rangers duo emerging victorious 13–12 in another nail-biting match.

The Men’s Singles brought together the top-ranked players in TPL Season 7, as world No. 57 Damir Dzumhur faced world No. 26 Luciano Darderi. The seasoned Dzumhur delivered an exceptional performance, winning 14–11 and bringing the Eagles back into contention. The Men’s Doubles featured Niki Poonacha and Dzumhur against Suresh and Darderi, and in a thrilling finish, the Eagles pair held their composure to secure a tight 13–12 victory, clinching a 51–49 overall win for the Eagles.
