Ahmedabad, Dec 13 (NationPress) GS Delhi Aces achieved the largest victory margin of this season, securing their spot in the semifinals alongside SG Pipers, Yash Mumbai Eagles, and Rajasthan Rangers on the second last day of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7. This thrilling day unfolded at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

In the first semifinal, GS Delhi Aces will compete against the Rajasthan Rangers, while the SG Pipers will take on the Yash Mumbai Eagles in the second match. With the defending champions, Hyderabad Strikers, eliminated, a new champion of the Tennis Premier League will be crowned this Sunday.

The day kicked off with the Rajasthan Rangers facing off against the Chennai Smashers. In the Women’s Singles, Ekaterina Kazionova triumphed over Irina Bara with a score of 13-12, setting a competitive tone for the Rangers. Following this, in the Mixed Doubles, Kazionova teamed up with Dhakshineswar Suresh to secure a 14-11 victory against Bara and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli.

World no. 26 Luciano Darderi achieved a smooth 15-10 win against Dalibor Svrcina in the Men’s Singles. Although Svrcina and Bollipalli managed a narrow 14-11 victory against Darderi and Suresh, the Rajasthan Rangers emerged victorious with a total of 53-47.

In the second match, the leading GS Delhi Aces continued their impressive form by defeating the Gujarat Panthers. Sofia Costoulas recorded an 18-7 victory against Nuria Brancaccio in the Women’s Singles. Costoulas then paired with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan to clinch a 15-10 win against Brancaccio and Anirudh Chandrasekar in the Mixed Doubles.

Billy Harris narrowly edged out world no. 42, Alexandre Müller, with a score of 13-12 in the Men’s Singles. Harris and Nedunchezhiyan then completed the rout with a commanding 16-9 victory against Müller and Chandrasekar, resulting in a 62-38 win for the GS Delhi Aces, marking the largest margin this season.

The third fixture saw the Gurgaon Grand Slammers taking on the Yash Mumbai Eagles. Sahaja Yamalapalli defeated Riya Bhatia 14-11 in the Women’s Singles, followed by Bhatia and Niki Poonacha winning 15-10 against Yamalapalli and Sriram Balaji in the Mixed Doubles.

The Men’s Singles featured Damir Dzumhur securing a 15-10 victory over Dan Evans. Dzumhur and Poonacha concluded the match with a decisive 17-8 win against Evans and Balaji in the Men’s Doubles, leading to a 58-42 victory for the Yash Mumbai Eagles.

In the last encounter of the day, SG Pipers faced off against the Hyderabad Strikers. In the Women’s Singles, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty triumphed 13-12 against Carole Monnet. Bhamidipaty then joined forces with Rohan Bopanna in the Mixed Doubles, achieving a 15-10 win against Monnet and Vishnu Vardhan.

Ramkumar Ramanathan continued his strong performance in the tournament, overcoming Bernabe Zapata 15-10 in the Men’s Singles. Ramanathan and Bopanna wrapped up the day with a 14-11 win, leading to a 57-43 victory for SG Pipers.
