Mumbai, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Yash Mumbai Eagles and Hyderabad Strikers achieved the top two rankings by winning their respective matches on a thrilling day of competition in the Tennis Premier League Season 6 at the Cricket Club of India on Friday. The Yash Mumbai Eagles climbed to the top of the standings after executing a clean sweep against the Chennai Smashers.

As the race for qualification spots intensifies, the Bengal Wizards faced off against the Gujarat Panthers in the day's opening match. The day commenced with an exhilarating encounter between Ekaterina Kazionova and Kamilla Rakhimova, with Kazionova securing a narrow victory of 13-12 in the Women’s Singles category. Sumit Nagal triumphed over Niki Poonacha in the Men’s Singles, finishing with a score of 16-9.

In the Mixed Doubles, the Bengal Wizards' duo of Kamilla Rakhimova and Sriram Balaji claimed a 15–10 victory against Ekaterina Kazionova and Siddhant Banthia. The first match concluded with Balaji and Poonacha narrowly defeating Nagal and Banthia with a score of 13-12; however, the Gujarat Panthers ultimately won the match, finishing at 51-49.

The second match of the day featured the Chennai Smashers and Yash Mumbai Eagles. Zeynep Sonmez displayed her prowess by outplaying Conny Perrin in the Women’s Singles, winning 16-9 to give the Mumbai Eagles an early advantage. Karan Singh also emerged victorious against Hugo Gaston, finishing 14-11.

The Mixed Doubles showdown was a nail-biter, resulting in a win for the Mumbai Eagles, thanks to Zeynep Sonmez and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who prevailed over Conny Perrin and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli with a score of 13-12. In the Men’s Doubles, Karan Singh and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan triumphed against Hugo Gaston and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli 15-10, completing a clean sweep for the Yash Mumbai Eagles with a dominant final score of 58-42.

The third match featured the Punjab Patriots versus the Rajasthan Rangers. In the Women’s Singles, Elina Avanesyan of the Punjab Patriots defeated Christina Dinu of the Rajasthan Rangers 15-10. In the Men’s Singles, Arthur Fery of the Rajasthan Rangers bested Mukund Sasikumar of Punjab, winning 16-9.

During the Mixed Doubles, the Punjab duo of Elina Avanesyan and Saketh Myneni secured a closely contested victory against Christina Dinu and Rohan Bopanna with a score of 13-12. In the Men’s Doubles, Rohan Bopanna and Arthur Fery of the Rajasthan Rangers won a tight match against Mukund Sasikumar and Saketh Myneni, finishing 13-12 and leading the Rajasthan Rangers to a narrow victory with a final score of 51-49.

The final match of the day saw Bengaluru SG Pipers square off against the Hyderabad Strikers. The day opened with Gabriela Knutson of Bengaluru SG Pipers defeating the in-form Harriet Dart 13-12 in the Women’s Singles. Following this, Bernabe Zapata Miralles continued the momentum by defeating Benjamin Lock of Hyderabad 15-10 in the Men’s Singles.

The Mixed Doubles featured a close match where Gabriela Knutson and Anirudh Chandrasekar of Bengaluru SG Pipers edged out Harriet Dart and Vishnu Vardhan of the Hyderabad Strikers by 13-12. In the Men’s Doubles, Benjamin Lock and Vishnu Vardhan claimed victory in another tight contest against Bernabe Zapata Miralles and Anirudh Chandrasekar, winning 13-12. The Bengaluru SG Pipers won the match 53-47, concluding an exciting day of competition.

As day four wraps up, the Yash Mumbai Eagles hold the top position on the points table with 215 points, closely followed by the Hyderabad Strikers in second place with 211 points. The Rajasthan Rangers are in third, while the Gujarat Panthers sit fourth with 205 and 201 points, respectively.

The Bengaluru SG Pipers and Punjab Patriots are tied for fifth place with 198 points. After a disappointing day, the Chennai Smashers have fallen to seventh place with 190 points, while the Bengal Wizards sit at the bottom with 182 points.
