Mumbai, Dec 6 (NationPress) Yash Mumbai Eagles and Gujarat Panthers recorded impressive victories, securing the top two positions in an exhilarating day of the Tennis Premier League Season 6 at the Cricket Club of India on Friday. The day's first match featured Sumit Nagal’s Gujarat Panthers against the Bengal Wizards, while the Yash Mumbai Eagles, competing in the second match, ascended to the pinnacle of the standings following an action-packed first half.

As the competition for qualification intensifies, the Bengal Wizards and Gujarat Panthers clashed in the opening match. The day kicked off with an electrifying encounter between Ekaterina Kazionova and Kamilla Rakhimova, with Kazionova emerging victorious with a score of 13-12 in the Women’s Singles. Sumit Nagal triumphed over Niki Poonacha in the Men’s Singles, securing a win of 16-9.

In the Mixed Doubles category, the duo of Kamilla Rakhimova and Sriram Balaji from the Bengal Wizards claimed victory with a score of 15-10 against Kazionova and Siddhant Banthia. The first match concluded with Sriram Balaji and Poonacha narrowly defeating Nagal and Banthia 13-12. However, the Gujarat Panthers ultimately claimed victory in the match with a final score of 51-49.

The second match of the day featured Chennai Smashers and Yash Mumbai Eagles. Zeynep Sonmez showcased her skills by defeating Conny Perrin in the Women’s Singles with a score of 16-9, providing the Yash Mumbai Eagles an early advantage. Karan Singh followed suit, winning against Hugo Gaston with a score of 14-11.

The Mixed Doubles match proved to be exhilarating, with Yash Mumbai Eagles clinching the victory thanks to Zeynep Sonmez and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, who triumphed over Perrin and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli with a score of 13-12. Karan Singh alongside Nedunchezhiyan also defeated Hugo Gaston and Bollipalli 15-10, completing a clean sweep for Yash Mumbai Eagles and securing a dominant 58-42 victory.

The latter half of the day will feature Rohan Bopanna’s Rajasthan Rangers going head-to-head against the Punjab Patriots, followed by the concluding match of the day between Bengaluru SG Pipers and the Hyderabad Strikers.
