TPL Season 6: Bengaluru SG Pipers and Gujarat Panthers Lead the Charge on Day 2

Mumbai, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Bengaluru SG Pipers have taken the lead in the points standings, while Sumit Nagal's Gujarat Panthers have risen to second place during the first half of Day 2 in Season 6 of the Tennis Premier League at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) courts on Wednesday. Bengaluru triumphed over the Bengal Wizards with a narrow score of 52-48, while the Gujarat Panthers defeated the Punjab Patriots 54-46 in the day's second match.
The action commenced with the Bengaluru SG Pipers facing off against the Bengal Wizards, featuring Gabriela Knutson versus Kamilla Rakhimova. In the women's singles category, Kamilla Rakhimova emerged victorious with a score of 14-11. The men's singles match showcased Niki Poonacha battling Bernabe Zapata Miralles, where Poonacha claimed victory with a close scoreline of 13-12. In the mixed doubles, the duo of Gabriela Knutson and Anirudh Chandrasekar from Bengaluru defeated Kamilla Rakhimova and Sriram Balaji of Bengal Wizards, winning 14-11.
During the men's doubles, Anirudh Chandrasekar and Bernabe Zapata Miralles secured a win against Niki Poonacha and Sriram Balaji with a score of 15-10, ultimately leading the Bengaluru SG Pipers to a hard-fought match victory of 52-48.
The second match of the day featured the Punjab Patriots against the Gujarat Panthers. Ekaterina Kazionova started strong for the Gujarat Panthers, winning the Women’s Singles category decisively with a score of 19-6 against Akanksha Nitture. In the men's singles, Mukund Sasikumar defeated Sumit Nagal with a score of 15-10.
In the mixed doubles category, the pairing of Ekaterina Kazionova and Vijay Sundar Prashanth from the Gujarat Panthers triumphed over Akanksha Nitture and Saketh Myneni with a score of 15-10. Although the Punjab Patriots managed to win the men’s doubles with Saketh Myneni and Mukund Sasikumar overcoming Sumit Nagal and Vijay Sundar Prashanth 15-10, the Gujarat Panthers concluded the match with a victory of 54-46.
Upcoming matches will see Hugo Gaston and Conny Perrin compete for the Chennai Smashers against the Hyderabad Strikers. To wrap up Day Two's events, Rohan Bopanna's Rajasthan Rangers will go head-to-head with the Yash Mumbai Eagles.
