New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) Scotland has unveiled its women's team for the forthcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal. The squad of fifteen is led by Kathryn Bryce.
Pippa Sproul has been included in the team that participated in the ICC Emerging Nations Trophy held in Thailand last month.
This Qualifier is scheduled from January 12 to February 2, featuring 10 teams, including Scotland, vying for four slots in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup set to take place in England next summer.
Craig Wallace, the head coach of Scotland's women’s team, expressed, “We have a thrilling opportunity ahead of us in Nepal, with the chance to qualify for another World Cup. We understand the challenges that qualifying tournaments present, and our experience in the Emerging Nations Trophy highlighted the toughness of associate cricket, so our focus must be on one game at a time and playing to our potential.
“Spending time together in Thailand was crucial for reuniting the group and playing T20 cricket collaboratively for the first time in a while. It was beneficial to work on various aspects of our play and challenge the players rigorously – while there is still work to be done, it was valuable to engage in competitive matches under pressure.
“We are delighted to have Kathryn Bryce back; she is our captain and a world-class player, contributing significantly to all facets of the game, both on and off the field. Sarah Bryce and Abtaha Maqsood performed exceptionally well in Thailand, leading the team effectively, and Kathryn adds remarkable value on top of that.
“Additionally, we have Pippa Sproul returning, who had an outstanding summer and earned a contract with Hampshire, which is tremendously exciting for her. Unfortunately, she could not join us in Thailand due to school obligations, so I’m thrilled to have her back and showcase her skills.”
