Edinburgh, March 31 (NationPress) The Scotland Women's cricket squad is gearing up for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 by hosting a T20 tri-series featuring Bangladesh and the Netherlands at The Grange Club, scheduled for May and June.

This series represents Scotland's initial home games since September 2022. During this period, the team has made significant strides, qualifying for two back-to-back Women's T20 World Cups and achieving impressive victories against full-member nations like West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Ireland in both ODI and T20 formats.

Following the tri-series, Scotland will head to England for two additional warm-up matches before kicking off their T20 World Cup journey against Ireland at Old Trafford on June 13.

Captain Kathryn Bryce expressed her enthusiasm about playing in front of local supporters in Edinburgh.

“I am incredibly thrilled about this chance to compete in my hometown of Edinburgh. The last time we played there was in 2022, which feels like ages ago, and I unfortunately contracted Covid-19 at that time, missing out on the series. This will mark my first opportunity to represent Scotland in Edinburgh during my career, which is incredibly exciting,” she stated in a release from Scotland cricket.

“We have a monumental few months ahead, especially with the T20 World Cup taking place nearby in England. With all the buzz and excitement surrounding that, I hope we can attract a large crowd to support us. It's rare for Scotland to host matches, so having a significant audience to cheer for us is special.”

“Both Bangladesh and the Netherlands are formidable teams, making these fixtures excellent preparation as we approach the main event. I can’t wait to don the thistle here in Scotland and perform in front of our home fans,” she added.

Head coach Craig Wallace emphasized the significance of hosting the tri-series for the team.

“Welcoming two outstanding cricketing nations like Bangladesh and the Netherlands to Scotland is fantastic and a significant advancement for our sport and team. Since we haven’t played at home since 2022, it will be an emotional occasion for everyone involved, given the hard work the team has put in and their recent successes,” he mentioned.

“These matches are crucial for our preparation ahead of the World Cup, and we’re excited to face strong opponents that we are somewhat familiar with. These games will serve as vital steps as we build towards our opening match against Ireland in the World Cup, and we are eager to compete and entertain in front of a large audience,” he added.

The tri-series will commence at The Grange Club on May 28, with Scotland facing the Netherlands, followed by Scotland against Bangladesh on May 30. Bangladesh will then play the Netherlands on May 31. The action continues with Scotland playing Bangladesh again on June 2 before facing the Netherlands on June 3. The series will conclude with the Netherlands taking on Bangladesh on June 4.
