Dubai, Jan 8 (NationPress) Prominent batters Laura Wolvaardt and Shafali Verma, along with South Africa's key all-rounder Sune Luus, have been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for December 2025, thanks to their exceptional performances during the last month of the year.

Following a stellar campaign in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Wolvaardt continued to impress by ending the year with three centuries across different formats. As the captain of South Africa, she led her team to clean sweeps in both the ODI (3-0) and T20I (2-0) series against Ireland, showcasing her incredible form.

Wolvaardt displayed her destructive batting in the first T20I by scoring an unbeaten 115 at an extraordinary strike rate of 205.35, which included 15 boundaries and four sixes. Her dominance extended into the ODI series, where after a steady start of 31, she hit back-to-back centuries with scores of 124 off 111 balls in the second ODI, finishing the series with another unbeaten century of 100 to ensure a whitewash.

Across the three ODIs, Wolvaardt amassed 255 runs with an impressive average of 127.50 and a strike rate of 111.84. In the T20I series, she contributed 137 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 190.27, losing her wicket only once.

On the other hand, India's Shafali Verma was equally explosive in the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, providing aggressive starts that led India to a dominant 5-0 series victory at home.

After a subdued performance in the first match, Verma bounced back from the second game, scoring an unbeaten 69 to lead India to a comfortable win. She followed with another unbeaten 79 in the third T20I, ensuring India completed the chase inside 14 overs. Her standout performance came in the fourth T20I, where she formed a record-breaking partnership with Smriti Mandhana, setting the record for the highest partnership in women’s T20Is for any wicket, while scoring 79 off 46 balls as India reached their highest T20I total of 221.

Verma concluded the series with an impressive 241 runs from five matches, achieving an astonishing strike rate of 181.20 and an average of 80.33, which earned her the Player of the Series award for her impactful contributions.

Meanwhile, South African all-rounder Sune Luus also had an outstanding month, displaying her skills with both bat and ball as South Africa secured decisive victories over Ireland in both formats.

Luus excelled in the first T20I, scoring 81 runs while opening the batting and claiming four wickets. She followed this with a crucial 37 in the second match as South Africa posted a solid total of 201. Her performance in the ODI series saw her top-scoring with an unbeaten 66 in the first match, coupled with a wicket, and then scoring her second ODI century with 114 off 113 balls in the second ODI, adding another wicket to her record.

Across the two ODIs, Luus accumulated 205 runs at an impressive average of 102.50 and a strike rate of 98.55, while also taking four wickets at an economy rate of 4.97. In the T20Is, she notched 118 runs at a strike rate of 157.33 and took four wickets at an economy of 6.42, further solidifying her status as a dominant all-rounder throughout December.
