Kolkata, Aug 13 (NationPress) The I-League team Shillong Lajong FC is set to commence the knockout quarterfinals of the 134th Durand Cup football tournament with an exciting match against Indian Navy FT at the Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Stadium in Shillong on Saturday, August 16.
According to the draw revealed by the Durand Cup Organising Committee (DCOC), the much-anticipated quarterfinal matches of the 134th Durand Cup will take place in four different cities on August 16 and 17.
Later the same day, Bodoland FC, a first-time quarterfinalist from the Northeast, will compete against the defending champions NorthEast United FC at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar.
On August 17, the matches will feature the ISL side Jamshedpur FC facing off against the debutants Diamond Harbour FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, while the fierce rivalry will reignite as Mohun Bagan Super Giant takes on East Bengal in yet another thrilling edition of the Kolkata Derby at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK).
All matches will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network (Sony Ten2 HD) and available for streaming on SonyLiv. The first match will kick off at 4 PM, followed by the second at 7 PM.
After both Indian Navy and Bodoland FC secured their knockout positions on Tuesday, August 12, the DCOC held a draw in the virtual presence of representatives from the eight qualifying teams to finalize the match fixtures.
Teams were organized into East and North-East zones based on the venues during the group stage to reduce travel, a strategy maintained from last year. The draw was conducted in accordance with the Indian Army’s principles of neutrality, transparency, and fairness.
The semifinals are scheduled to take place in Shillong on August 19 and at Kolkata’s VYBK on August 20.
The 134th edition of Asia’s oldest and the world’s third-oldest football tournament, managed by the Indian Army on behalf of the three services, will conclude with a grand finale at the VYBK on August 23.
