New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) In a remarkable display of skill, Manini Kaushik from Rajasthan and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, the silver medallist at the world championships in 50m rifle 3P, emerged as the leaders in the women's and men's categories on the inaugural day of Selection Trial 1 during the Rifle/Pistol National Selection Trials 1&2 (Group A) at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. The event kicked off with impressive performances in the 50m rifle prone events.
Manini Kaushik secured her top position in the women's 50m rifle prone T1 with an outstanding score of 625.0, showcasing a steady and methodical approach across her series: 104.7, 104.2, 102.3, 104.6, 104.2, and 105. Karnataka's Tilottama Sen finished in second place with 622.6, while Kerala's Vidarsa K. Vinod came in third at 622.0.
The competition was fierce, with only 0.4 points separating the athletes from fifth to eighth place. Jharkhand's Supriya Kumari took fourth with 621.7, ahead of the reigning national champion Priya from the Army Marksmanship Unit (620.7). The top eight also included Haryana's Nischal (620.6), Madhya Pradesh's Ashi Chouksey (620.5), and Punjab's Sift Kaur Samra (620.4).
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar dominated the men's 50m rifle prone Trials 1, finishing first with an impressive score of 629.6. The national champion in 50m 3P started strong and maintained his lead with scores of 105.3, 105.4, 105.7, 104.9, 103.7, and 104.6, establishing a comfortable 3.2-point lead.
Second place went to former world champion Akhil Sheoran with a score of 626.4, while current national champion Swapnil Kusale finished third at 625.3. Following them were Army shooters Nishan Budha (623.8) and Chain Singh (622.9), placed fourth and fifth respectively. Navy's Nikhil Tanwar (621.9), Army's Babu Singh Panwar (621.6), and Navy shooter Niraj Kumar (620.6) completed the top eight.
In the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event, Navy's Omkar Singh leads the competition after Stage 1 of T1 qualification with a score of 295-14x, while Rajasthan's Bhavesh Shekhawat and Uttar Pradesh's Ankur Goel follow in second and third with scores of 292-9x and 291-10x respectively. World Championship silver medallist Anish Bhanwala currently sits in seventh place with a score of 286-12x. The second stage and T1 finals are scheduled for tomorrow.
The finals for the 50m Rifle 3 Positions (T1) for both men and women will also take place on Tuesday, alongside the T2 finals for the 50m rifle prone events.
