New Delhi, Nov 13 (NationPress) Team India’s Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, expressed his enthusiasm for the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup – Cricket for the Blind 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. In a heartfelt video from the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), Gill extended his best wishes to the Indian women's blind team, stating, “These remarkable women demonstrate that true vision transcends sight and resides in belief. Blind cricket has always embodied resilience and pride. This occasion is a celebration of inclusion and empowerment. As a cricketer and as a nation, I take immense pride in India's leadership. Let’s rally behind our women and celebrate their spirit while cheering for this historic moment for India and the world.”

So far, the Indian team has played two matches in the tournament, maintaining an unbeaten record. After facing Sri Lanka in their campaign opener and Australia in their subsequent match, Team India emerged victorious in both contests with outstanding performances.

During their first match, winning the toss allowed Sri Lanka to bat first, where they managed to score only 41 runs in 13.3 overs, thanks to India’s exceptional bowling and fielding. The Indian team's sharp fielding resulted in seven run-outs, with Deepika TC, Ganga Kadam, and Jamuna Rani Tudu each taking a wicket.

In response, India easily surpassed the small target, achieving 43 runs without losing a wicket in just three overs, securing a 10-wicket triumph. Captain Deepika TC led the way with 26 runs off 14 balls, including four boundaries, while Anekha Devi contributed with 15 runs off six balls, featuring three fours. Ganga Kadam was named Player of the Match for her all-around performance and disciplined bowling.

Team India continued their winning streak, achieving a commanding 209-run victory over Australia in the third match of the inaugural Women's T20 World Cup - Cricket for the Blind in New Delhi on Wednesday. They started the tournament with a convincing win against Sri Lanka on the opening day.

Batting first, India posted an impressive total of 292/4 in 20 overs. Captain Deepika TC led with a rapid 91 off 58 balls, supported by Phula Saren, who scored 54 not out off 22 balls. Contributions from Anekha Devi (14), Anu Kumari (14), and Kavya V (12 not out) bolstered the total. With 52 extras and a 26-run penalty, the target became daunting for the opposition.

In their chase of 293, Australia was bowled out for 57 in 19.3 overs. Despite Chanakan Buakhao's determined 40 not out, India's bowlers and fielders dominated the game, facilitated by seven run-outs and disciplined bowling, ensuring a decisive victory.
