Sri Lanka Assembles Unchanged T20I Squad Ahead of New Zealand Series

Colombo, Dec 18 (NationPress) Sri Lanka has selected a formidable 16-member squad, led by Charith Asalanka, for a six-match white-ball series against New Zealand, which includes three T20Is followed by three ODIs. The T20I squad remains unchanged from the team that played against New Zealand in a home series in November. With confidence instilled under Asalanka's captaincy, they are poised to continue the momentum they’ve established on home soil.
The team features a blend of experience and youth, with players such as Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, and Dinesh Chandimal providing a robust batting foundation. Dynamic talents like Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa bring explosive energy to the lineup, while all-rounders like Wanindu Hasaranga and Kamindu Mendis ensure a balanced side.
The bowling attack is equally impressive, showcasing spin wizard Maheesh Theekshana and wrist-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay. The pace department, headed by Matheesha Pathirana and bolstered by Nuwan Thushara, Asitha Fernando, and Binura Fernando, aims to capitalize on New Zealand's lively pitches.
The squad is set to depart for New Zealand on December 20, ready to tackle the challenges of competing in demanding overseas conditions. The T20I series will lead into an exciting ODI series scheduled for January 5, 8, and 11.
