Subhasish Bose and Kasturi Chhetri Announce Pregnancy After ISL Victory

Kolkata, April 13 (NationPress) The captain of Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Subhasish Bose, alongside his wife Kasturi Chhetri, has shared the delightful news that they are expecting their first child. They announced this exciting milestone via an Instagram post on Sunday, following Mohun Bagan Super Giant's thrilling 2-1 victory over Bengaluru FC in the final of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season, held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata.

Kasturi expressed their joy on Instagram, stating, "We’ve hoped, and we’ve prayed, and now we’re thrilled to announce…our little miracle is on the way." In a heartfelt video shared by the couple, Subhasish is shown awarding his medal to Kasturi while affectionately kissing her baby bump. In another post, Kasturi shared, "Belly full of love and joy."

On Saturday, MBSG made a remarkable comeback after initially falling behind to successfully complete the League Double, having already secured the ISL Shield this season, and they concluded the campaign undefeated at home. They became the second team, after Mumbai City FC (2020-21), to win both the League Shield and the ISL Cup in the same season.

MBSG relied on the enthusiastic crowd support to kick off the game strongly, with Jamie Maclaren coming close with a right-footed shot from the box, which was saved in the bottom left corner by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the ninth minute.

They continued to work synchronously, as Anirudh Thapa, typically orchestrating play from the center, made a move into the 18-yard area and quickly attempted a right-footed shot from the left side of the box that was blocked just in time.

The Blues countered with a series of chances around the 20th-minute mark, with Alberto Noguera pulling the MBSG defense wide and delivering a cross for Sunil Chhetri, which the forward could not convert. A subsequent headed attempt from Edgar Mendez was saved at the center of the goal by Vishal Kaith, maintaining the scoreline.

Bengaluru FC took the lead in the 49th minute due to an own goal by defender Alberto Rodriguez. Williams was given plenty of space on the right flank and made the most of it with a precise cross aimed at Mendez inside the box.

Subhasish, tasked with marking Williams, was unable to close down his target. Rodriguez attempted to clear the ball but inadvertently sent it into the net under pressure.

Seven minutes later, Bose sought to redeem himself by regaining possession near the halfway line and launching a pass that found Jason Cummings just outside the penalty area. The striker skillfully controlled the ball and unleashed a left-footed shot that required an impressive dive from Sandhu to prevent the equalizer.

However, MBSG was awarded a penalty due to a handball by Chinglensana Singh. In the 72nd minute, Cummings confidently approached the spot and converted the chance by gently placing the ball into the bottom left corner with his left foot, leveling the contest.

As the match moved into added time, Kaith sent a long ball towards Ashique Kuruniyan, who attempted to score from a challenging angle on the left but missed. Greg Stewart delivered a lateral pass for Tom Aldred, but the defender's header from the left side of the six-yard box went off target to the right.

The game proceeded to extra time, where it didn't take long for Maclaren to make his mark in the grand finale. With MBSG pushing forward, the Bengaluru FC defense encountered difficulty, and Maclaren capitalized on the situation with a powerful shot from inside the box after regaining possession, finding the back of the net in the 96th minute and capping off a memorable season for the Kolkata club.
