We have a very talented and exciting group of players, and I am really looking forward to working with the team. It will be a great opportunity for all of us to learn from each other and play some good cricket,' he said.

The India captain also credited the PCA for creating a meaningful competitive platform. 'I would like to thank the Punjab Cricket Association for organising the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League. It is a very important platform for young and talented cricketers from Punjab. They get the opportunity to perform against quality players, gain experience and show what they can do. Hopefully, many of them can use this tournament as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities,' Gill added.

Mentoring the Next Generation

Beyond the trophy hunt, Gill has framed his captaincy as a mentoring assignment. Drawing on his experience at the international level, he stressed the importance of composure and game-reading for emerging talent.

'For young players, it is important to believe in their ability and stay calm when they are under pressure. I want to help them understand the game better, whether it is about reading a situation, making decisions or handling pressure. These are things that come with experience, and if I can share whatever I have learned, it will be a good opportunity for me as well,' he said.

Defining Success Beyond the Trophy

Gill was candid about how he will measure the Falcons' campaign. While winning remains a stated goal, he believes the tournament's deeper value lies in what it does for Punjab's emerging cricketers. 'Obviously, winning the trophy is something we will be aiming for, but for me, success will also be about seeing young players from our team grow during the tournament,' he said.

This perspective aligns with the broader intent of the league — to bridge the gap between domestic age-group cricket and senior professional competition in Punjab.
