New Delhi, May 5 (NationPress) Sumit Jain has been re-elected as the president of the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) for the 2025–2029 term during internal elections held at the India Habitat Centre. This election also saw the formation of a new executive committee dedicated to enhancing the promotion of deaf cricket both in India and internationally.
Since its inception in 2020, IDCA, founded by Sumit Jain, who also serves as Vice President of the Differently-Abled Cricket Committee of BCCI (DCCI), has aimed to create a dedicated platform for cricketers with hearing impairments. Over the years, IDCA has developed into a robust national organization advocating for inclusive sports, achieving recognition from the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC) and collaborating with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The newly elected Executive Committee for the 2025–2029 term includes Sagarkanta Senapati as vice president, Rohit Saini as general secretary, Sonu as joint secretary, and Arun Goel as treasurer. The committee also welcomes two dedicated female executive members, Jyoti Jain and Shagun. In addition, K.Gopinadh, Ankit Agarwal, and Asheesh Bajpai have been elected as executive members.
Upon his re-election, Sumit Jain expressed, "It is a privilege to be re-elected as IDCA President. Our journey has been challenging yet fulfilling, as we strive to provide deaf athletes with a national stage to showcase their abilities. In the years ahead, we will focus on enhancing state-level infrastructure, increasing international exposure, and ensuring our players receive the recognition they deserve."
Since its establishment, IDCA has played a pivotal role in hosting numerous national and international cricket tournaments, training camps, and awareness programs to identify and nurture deaf cricket talent. The association is committed to offering equal opportunities, protecting the rights of deaf athletes, and ensuring their active participation within the cricketing community.
IDCA CEO Roma Balwani commented, "Under Sumit Jain's visionary leadership, IDCA has reached impressive milestones in a short time. This new term continues our mission to create an environment that empowers deaf cricketers to represent their states and country with pride. The new committee, comprised of capable and enthusiastic volunteers, will further enhance IDCA's vision and initiatives."
Prior to IDCA, the foundation for deaf cricket in India was laid with the establishment of the Deaf Cricket Society in 2012, which played a vital role in guiding thousands of hearing-impaired cricketers into competitive cricket.
As the new committee takes office, IDCA reiterates its commitment to promoting sports inclusivity, talent development, and global cooperation, ensuring that India remains a significant force in deaf cricket worldwide.
