Tan Kim Her Rejoins Indian Badminton Team as Doubles Coach

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has reappointed Malaysian doubles coach Tan Kim Her to assist the national team for a second term.

During his initial tenure with India, he played a crucial role in pairing Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. Tan's primary focus this time will be on cultivating robust doubles partnerships and enhancing the team's depth as they prepare for the 2026 Asian Games and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Commenting on his return to the Indian badminton scene, Tan expressed, "I am thrilled to be back in India and to have the opportunity to collaborate with Satwik-Chirag and the promising group of young doubles players who have the potential to emulate their success. I am eager to develop a larger pool of doubles combinations capable of competing at the international level."

After spending time coaching Japanese men's doubles teams since 2019, Tan has returned to India to leverage his established expertise. He has already arrived and commenced his second tenure with the team in Hyderabad.

"We have been actively searching for high-quality foreign coaches who can mentor our elite players and guide the next generation as we gear up for the 2028 Olympics. Identifying the right coach required time, but we were committed to bringing in individuals who could foster the growth of our badminton talents and work with a broader group of players, helping to build a solid pipeline of future talent," stated BAI secretary general Sanjay Mishra.
