New Delhi, July 7 (NationPress) Tanisha Singh, Nazma, Monika, and Purva Siwach have been recognized as the prime acquisitions as the Central Delhi Queens, North Delhi Strikers, East Delhi Riders, and South Delhi Superstarz finalized their women's lineups for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2.
The auction was marked by heated bidding, with franchises investing significantly in standout talents: Tanisha (Rs 13 lakh), Nazma (Rs 12.5 lakh), Monika (Rs 10 lakh), and Purva Siwach (Rs 9.75 lakh).
On this occasion, Rohan Jaitley, president of the DDCA, commented, “It’s a moment of pride for us. The DPL has been among the few leagues to incorporate a women’s edition from the beginning. This season, we’ve broadened participation and reinforced the domestic framework.”
“Over 600 girls participated in our recent club-level tournament — a significant milestone for women’s cricket in Delhi. With increasing interest and talent, we aspire to expand with more teams, players, and matches in the future.”
The Central Delhi Queens, who had previously retained Deeksha Sharma, added seasoned player Monika for Rs 10 lakh and cleverly utilized the Right to Match (RTM) card to reacquire promising spinner Parunika Sisodia.
The East Delhi Riders demonstrated their confidence in experienced India batter Priya Punia, retaining her before the auction due to her consistent and reliable performances. They further enhanced their squad by investing in talented all-rounder Purva Siwach and left-arm medium pacer Pragya Rawat, both viewed as promising talents for the upcoming season.
The North Delhi Strikers had already secured Upasana Yadav prior to the auction and further strengthened their team by adding Nazma, a highly sought-after player who ignited a bidding battle between the Central Delhi Queens and South Delhi Superstarz. Ultimately, the Strikers used their Right to Match (RTM) to bring her back.
The South Delhi Superstarz retained star batter Shweta Sehrawat ahead of the auction and made a notable investment to secure emerging talents like Tanisha and Ekta Bhadana, highlighting their ambition to create a robust and youthful team.
