Ahmedabad, Dec 10 (NationPress) The GS Delhi Aces and Chennai Smashers ignited the excitement on Day Two of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium, showcasing an impressive display of skill on the charcoal-colored court. The Delhi Aces triumphed over the Chennai Smashers with a score of 56–44 in this league match.

The day commenced with an exhilarating Women’s Singles match featuring Sofia Costoulas and Irina Bara. Costoulas, who had already made waves on the opening day, maintained her momentum with a stellar performance. The 20-year-old Belgian dictated the pace from the baseline, exhibiting a formidable backhand and remarkable patience during the rallies. Her unwavering consistency led the GS Delhi Aces to a 17–8 victory, setting a positive tone for the day.

Next, she joined forces with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the Mixed Doubles, where they continued their streak with a hard-fought 14–11 win against the duo of Irina Bara and Rithvik Bollipalli. The energy brought by both Costoulas and Nedunchezhiyan was palpable. Building on that momentum, the GS Delhi Aces secured another commanding 16–8 win in the subsequent Mixed Doubles, further consolidating their lead.

In the Men’s Singles, Billy Harris faced off against Dalibor Svrcina in a fiercely contested match. Svrcina, who had been performing well leading into the tournament, managed to claw back for the Chennai Smashers with a narrow 13–12 victory. However, with the points totaled, the pairing of Billy Harris and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in the Men’s Doubles clinched the overall tie for the Delhi Aces with a score of 56–44.

In the evening's second match, the SG Pipers Bengaluru took on the Yash Mumbai Eagles. Riya Bhatia put forth a commanding performance in the Women’s Singles, giving the Eagles an early lead with a 17–8 win over Shrivalli Bhamidipaty. Bhatia then partnered with Niki Poonacha in the Mixed Doubles against the SG Pipers team of Bhamidipaty and Rohan Bopanna, continuing their unbeaten run with a 14–11 victory, characterized by their sharp coordination at the net.

The Men’s Singles featured Ramkumar Ramanathan challenging Damir Dzumhur, where Ramanathan showcased his prowess by overcoming the world number 57 with a 15–10 win, thereby regaining control for his team.

In the Men’s Doubles, Ramanathan and Rohan Bopanna faced Poonacha and Dzumhur, with the Eagles narrowly clinching a 13–12 win, ultimately securing the tie with an overall score of 51–49.
