New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Trae Young, the talented guard for the Atlanta Hawks, has been chosen by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to step in for the injured Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks on Team Chuck for the upcoming 2025 NBA All-Star Game. This marks Young's fourth All-Star selection. Currently, he is averaging 23.5 points and leading the league with 11.4 assists per game over 49 games this season.
Antetokounmpo will not be taking part in the All-Star festivities due to a left calf strain. The nine-time All-Star was previously selected for Team Chuck by general manager Charles Barkley.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers confirmed Antetokounmpo’s condition on Sunday, stating he would be sidelined for the game against the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the matchups on Monday against Golden State and Wednesday against Minnesota. “We’ve just been monitoring it, and it just hasn’t improved enough for us to play him. If this was a playoff game, would he play? Probably yes. But this is not. And we want to make sure he’s playing in the playoffs,” Rivers explained.
The 74th NBA All-Star Game is set to occur on Sunday at the Chase Center in San Francisco. This year’s All-Star Game will introduce a new mini-tournament format, dividing the 24 All-Star selections evenly into three teams, with a fourth team made up of the Rising Stars champions. Commentary will come from notable figures like Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith, who have drafted their respective teams this week.
