UCL: Araujo Makes Comeback, Included in Barca's Squad for Dortmund Showdown

Barcelona, Dec 10 (NationPress) Ronald Araujo makes his return to FC Barcelona's match day roster, 156 days post-injury sustained in the quarter-finals of the Copa America. Having overcome the hamstring injury that necessitated surgery, the Uruguayan defender is now part of the squad for the upcoming clash against Borussia Dortmund.
This marks Araujo's first call-up under Hansi Flick, coinciding with Barca's journey to Signal Iduna Park on Thursday (IST) for the Champions League encounter.
Both squads have been in exceptional goal-scoring form, consistently outpacing their opponents with formidable offensive capabilities. While Dortmund’s recent Bundesliga performance has faltered, Nuri Sahin’s side has excelled in the Champions League, currently positioned fourth in the standings with four victories and one defeat, averaging an impressive 3.2 goals per match, presenting a significant challenge for the Catalan side.
The attacking trio of Gittens, Guirassy, and Adeyemi has caused chaos for opposing defenses, contributing 11 of the team’s total 16 goals. Conversely, Barcelona cannot be underestimated, bolstered by a fresh lineup, Hansi Flick’s strategic high defensive line, and their prolific captain, Raphinha Dias, who leads as their top scorer in the Champions League thus far.
Although Barcelona currently occupies third place in the UCL standings, they aim to recover from recent performances that have seen the Hansi Flick-led team drop points in four of their last five league matches.
Barcelona's squad for the match against Dortmund includes:
Cubarsi, Balde, R Araujo, I Martinez, Gavi, Ferran, Pedri, Lewandowski, Raphinha, Inaki Pena, Pablo Torre, Fermin, M Casado, Pau Víctor, Lamine Yamal, Olmo, F De Jong, Kounde, Eric, Szczęsny, Astralaga, H Fort, and Gerard Martín.
