Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 30 (NationPress) The UP Warriorz have secured the services of Charli Knott from Australia as a replacement for the left-arm medium-pacer Tara Norris. Norris has been chosen to represent the USA national team in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, taking place in Nepal from January 18 to February 3, 2026.
Knott, an uncapped Australian all-rounder, has been signed at her reserve price of INR 10 lakh and is poised to make her WPL debut.
Although she has not yet played internationally, Knott boasts significant experience, having participated in six seasons of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and two seasons of The Hundred.
Recognized as a promising young all-rounder, she is celebrated for her solid batting technique, disciplined off-spin, and her ability to enhance the team’s performance across multiple areas, enriching the UP Warriorz lineup ahead of WPL 2026.
Kshemal Waingankar, COO of UP Warriorz, expressed, “We extend our best wishes to Tara for her international journey. We are thrilled to welcome Charli Knott to our team. She possesses the talent and mentality needed to make a substantial impact.”
With Charli Knott gearing up for her first WPL season, UP Warriorz are diligently forming a balanced squad for WPL 2026, blending emerging talent with substantial experience and depth. Their campaign is set to commence on January 10 against the Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
In the meantime, fellow Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland have also opted out of WPL 2026 for personal reasons, and their teams have announced replacements.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have brought in Sayali Satghare as a substitute for Perry. Satghare, who represents Mumbai at the domestic level and has previously been part of the Gujarat Giants roster, joins RCB at her reserve price of INR 30 lakh.
Meanwhile, the three-time finalists Delhi Capitals have selected Alana King as a replacement for Sutherland. The Australian leg-spinner, who played for UP Warriorz last season, has participated in 27 T20Is and has taken 27 wickets. King will join DC at a reserve price of INR 60 lakh.
