“I began as a small-town girl with immense aspirations in Kadur. I picked up a bat, unaware of the journey it would lead me on. However, my love for the game was undeniable. I never envisioned that I would travel from narrow lanes to the grandest stadiums, or from quiet dreams to proudly donning the India jersey,” she wrote.

“Cricket has given me more than just a career; it has helped me discover my identity. It has taught me resilience, the ability to rise after a fall, and the importance of perseverance. With a heart full of gratitude, I’m closing this chapter,” she shared in her retirement message.

Veda, recognized as a dependable middle-order batter, has accumulated 829 runs in 48 ODIs, with eight half-centuries to her name. She also scored 875 runs in 76 T20Is, featuring two fifties. Additionally, she represented the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2017/18 WBBL and played for Gujarat Giants in the 2024 season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Moreover, she participated in the now-defunct Women’s T20 Challenge with Velocity.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to my parents and siblings, especially my sister, for being my first team and unwavering support. To my coaches, captains, and mentors, thank you for molding my cricketing journey. To The BCCI, I am grateful for the trust you placed in me to represent India,” Veda expressed.

“To KSCA, Railways, and KIOC, thank you for allowing me the space to develop. My teammates made this entire experience worthwhile; the memories of victories, losses, and laughter will forever remain in my heart. You were more than just teammates; you were family,” she added.

“To my friends, your support, especially during unseen moments, meant the world to me. Leading Karnataka and Railways was an honor I will cherish. Both teams challenged me and provided opportunities for me to lead with passion,” Veda commented.

She was part of the Indian squad that finished as runners-up in both the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup and the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup. “Wearing the India jersey is an unparalleled experience. The anthem, the thrill, the pride—it’s ingrained in me forever. The year 2017 was monumental; being part of a World Cup that transformed perceptions of women’s cricket in India will always be a source of pride,” she reflected.

“I also want to thank the physios, trainers, selectors, and everyone working behind the scenes. This sport has provided me with everything, and I will forever be thankful for it,” Veda concluded.

Outside of playing, Veda has explored coaching and has provided commentary for India’s matches, including the WPL, in both English and Kannada.

“Now, I am eager to give back. Regardless of the role or format, I am committed to the game. I believe this new chapter will be equally meaningful. I played with passion and pride at every moment, always for the team and always for India. Jai Hind, with love,” Veda finished her heartfelt message.
