Gwalior, June 15 (NationPress) The captain of Indore Pink Panthers, Venkatesh Iyer, has showered accolades on the young talent Akshat Raghuwanshi for his pivotal innings during their thrilling six-run victory against Jabalpur Royal Lions in Match 5 of the Madhya Pradesh League T20.

In a spectacular display, Raghuwanshi scored a remarkable 76 runs off 46 balls, including seven fours and five sixes, leading Indore to a total of 183/7 after they chose to bat first. Despite the early loss of opener Arpit Gaud, Raghuwanshi’s commanding performance, supported by the middle order, helped secure a formidable total.

“The standout moment today was Akshat’s innings. At just 21, I have yet to encounter a player with such talent. I genuinely believe that great opportunities await him in the future,” expressed Iyer.

On the bowling front for Jabalpur, the wickets were distributed among Anubhav Agarwal, Pankaj Patel, Ritesh Shakya, Saransh Jain, and Dharmesh Patel, alongside two crucial run-outs that kept the Indore team in check during the final overs.

In response, the defending champions, Jabalpur Royal Lions, who had their previous match washed out, started strongly. The opening partnership between Siddharth Patidar and Dharmesh Patel generated a solid 80-run start before Dharmesh was dismissed for a brisk 57 off 28 balls.

However, the introduction of leg-spinner Mihir Hirwani changed the course of the match, sparking a collapse that saw Jabalpur drop from 80/0 to 95/5, with Hirwani achieving impressive figures of 3/23.

Despite the fall of wickets, Rahul Batham kept Jabalpur's hopes alive with a late surge of 58 runs off 36 balls. With 20 runs required off the final over, bowled by Iyer himself, the first delivery was hit for six, narrowing the requirement to 11 off 2. Iyer maintained his composure, dismissed Batham, and clinched a thrilling six-run victory.

“Personally, my bowling was the highlight for me. I felt I delivered well, especially since it had been a while since I last bowled,” stated Iyer, who took 2 wickets, including defending the crucial final over.

This victory marked a strong beginning for the Indore Pink Panthers in their season, while the Jabalpur Royal Lions are still searching for their first win after their initial match was washed out.
