Las Vegas, Nov 23 (NationPress) Max Verstappen clinched a remarkable victory at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, edging out Lando Norris and trimming the McLaren driver's championship lead to 42 points, while Oscar Piastri finished in fourth place.

Verstappen dominated the 50-lap race through the streets of Las Vegas, overtaking pole-sitter Norris when the championship leader went wide at Turn 1, after initially squeezing past his title rival off the start.

Norris fell behind George Russell and only managed to reclaim the position in the closing stages, but could not mount a challenge against Verstappen, ultimately finishing nearly 21 seconds adrift due to a late-race issue.

Russell secured the podium despite voicing concerns about steering problems with his Mercedes, which nearly led to him being passed by his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who made an impressive recovery from P17 to finish fourth on the track.

The young Italian successfully defended against a charging Piastri and Charles Leclerc in the final laps, but a five-second penalty for a false start dropped Antonelli to P5 in the official standings, just ahead of Leclerc.

Piastri finished in P4 after having dropped to seventh earlier in the race due to contact with Liam Lawson's Racing Bulls at the first turn, now placing him 30 points behind Norris in the championship.

Leclerc secured P6 following an early surge from P9, with Carlos Sainz completing the top seven, having managed a steady drive from his Williams, ahead of Isack Hadjar's Racing Bulls.

The top 10 was rounded out by Nico Hulkenberg's Kick Sauber and Lewis Hamilton, with the Ferrari driver claiming the last point after starting from the back of the grid and utilizing a hard tyre strategy, similar to Hulkenberg.

The Haas drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman narrowly missed out on points, with Bearman initially running in the top 10 alongside Fernando Alonso, who finished just behind in P13.

The Spaniard led Yuki Tsunoda's Red Bull, which began from the pit lane, and Pierre Gasly, who encountered issues at Turn 1 during the opening lap.

Lawson ended up in P16 after sustaining damage on lap two, necessitating a pit stop, while Franco Colapinto's Alpine finished in the last position.

Alex Albon (Williams) retired after a collision with Hamilton required a new front wing, while Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) both exited with damage from contact at Turn 1.
