Hyderabad, March 28 (NationPress) New Zealand's seasoned player Kane Williamson expressed his admiration for the Lucknow Super Giants following their triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. He highlighted the Rishabh Pant-led team's impeccable performance in keeping SRH to a subpar score.

Choosing to bowl first, LSG's all-rounder Shardul Thakur achieved a remarkable four-wicket haul, restricting SRH to 190/9 in their innings. In response, Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh both delivered explosive fifties, leading their team to a five-wicket victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

"Competing in Hyderabad against SRH is certainly one of the most challenging tasks. However, LSG was exceptionally well-prepared. They showed the confidence to implement their strategy right from the start. They bowled full and straight—actually, even fuller than full—focusing on the yorker length while occasionally missing slightly. This approach successfully restricted SRH’s scoring opportunities, preventing them from taking control of the game or disrupting the opposition's rhythm.

"Kudos to the leadership for the meticulous planning and thought process behind it. Their execution was flawless, which contributed to restricting SRH to what might be considered an inadequate total," Williamson stated on JioHotstar.

Thakur, who joined LSG as a last-minute replacement for Mohsin Khan, reached the milestone of 100 IPL wickets. He took down crucial wickets including Abhishek Sharma (6), Ishan Kishan (0), Abhinav Manohar (2), and Mohammed Shami (1), finishing with figures of 4-34. His outstanding performance earned him the title of Player of the Match.

Williamson further commented on Thakur’s performance, saying, "A fantastic late addition for LSG, Shardul is an experienced international player, and opening the bowling against SRH in Hyderabad is a formidable challenge. However, he came in with a robust strategy, aligned with the team's game plan, and executed it superbly. They bowled with a variety of deliveries, kept it incredibly full, and utilized all possible modes of dismissal.

"This was an extremely effective strategy, and he did an excellent job. Being named Man of the Match was well-deserved for such an outstanding display."
