Navi Mumbai, Jan 18 (NationPress) Sayali Satghare, the all-rounder for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), had a remarkable debut as she captured three vital wickets against Delhi Capitals at the DY Patil Stadium, leading her team to an impressive eight-wicket win.
Entering the bowling attack in the second over, Sayali successfully maintained the momentum initiated by Lauren Bell, who secured two early wickets in the first over, setting the stage perfectly for RCB. On the third ball of her over, Sayali dismissed DC captain Jemimah Rodrigues and followed up by clean bowling all-rounder Marizanne Kapp on her next delivery.
Achieving outstanding figures of 3/27 on her debut, Sayali expressed her admiration for the 2024 champions, crediting the team's positive atmosphere for her success.
“It still hasn’t completely sunk in, but this is definitely a dream debut. I’ve been an RCB fan since the IPL kicked off in 2008, and I always hoped to one day represent RCB when the WPL began,” she shared in a video released by the franchise.
“It’s genuinely enjoyable here; we have a youthful squad, and everyone is connecting well. We celebrate each other's achievements and all players are thrilled for the team,” she added.
Sayali was initially unsold at the WPL 2026 mega auction but got her chance with RCB when star all-rounder Ellyse Perry withdrew from the tournament due to personal reasons.
Previously, Sayali has represented the Indian women’s team in three ODI matches, where she conceded 107 runs and took three wickets, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 4.65 in the 50-over format. In her only batting innings, she scored just two runs.
During her stint with Mumbai in the List A One Day Trophy tournament in 2024, she accumulated 260 runs over seven matches at an average of 52, highlighted by a remarkable century off just 77 balls.
