New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is set to embark on an official visit to India tomorrow, marking his third trip to the nation since taking office as UAE President. This visit also represents his fifth journey to India in the last decade.

As per a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this official visit by the UAE President is a continuation of the robust momentum generated by recent diplomatic interactions, including the visit from Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2024, along with the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in April 2025.

The MEA noted, "India and the UAE maintain warm, close, and multi-faceted relations, grounded in strong political, cultural, and economic ties. The two nations are significant trading and investment partners, strengthened by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system, and the Bilateral Investment Treaty. The energy partnership between India and the UAE is also strong, featuring long-term energy supply agreements."

"This visit will allow the two leaders to explore new avenues for the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as facilitate discussions on regional and global issues of shared concern, where there is a high degree of alignment between India and the UAE," it added.

In December of the previous year, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar co-chaired the 16th Joint Commission and 5th Strategic Dialogue with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Abu Dhabi.

The leaders evaluated all facets of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and pinpointed key priorities for future collaboration.

In a post on X, EAM Jaishankar remarked, "In today’s world, enhanced India–UAE cooperation fosters shared interests and contributes to regional and global stability."

During their meeting, the EAM emphasized the significant increase in bilateral trade, investments, fintech, and digital connectivity following the CEPA and Bilateral Investment Treaty.

He highlighted the vast potential in connectivity and logistics, both bilaterally and through initiatives like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

EAM Jaishankar also underscored the expansion of energy collaboration, particularly in civil nuclear cooperation, while strengthening educational and cultural exchanges, and fortifying defence and security cooperation.

Last July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during a phone call, as stated by the MEA.

The two leaders reiterated their mutual commitment to advancing the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates.

"They positively assessed the significant progress made across various sectors of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance of further developing and deepening collaboration for the mutual benefit of their people," the MEA statement noted.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi for becoming the second longest-serving Prime Minister in India’s history, expressing wishes for his continued success in serving the nation.

PM Modi expressed gratitude to the UAE leader for his kind wishes and the affection shown towards the people of India.

"Both sides also discussed strategies to enhance ties for mutual benefits while promoting sustainable development and prosperity for their citizens. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and PM Modi expressed their eagerness to strengthen relationships between their countries, aligned with their shared vision to leverage opportunities for greater prosperity for their peoples," stated the UAE President's office following the call.
